In collaboration with Water Europe and the EU-LIFE project iBathWater, we are co-organising a workshop on the digitalisation of bathing water management during the next autumn edition of Water Knowledge Europe 2021.

The objectives of the workshop will be to

• Explore the benefits of digital innovations such as online sensors, machine learning, process-based models and mobile apps for managing microbial safety of bathing water sites,
• Promote an open source data-driven early-warning system, which is currently developed within digital-water.city and
• Draw concrete policy recommendations for the ongoing revision of the Bathing Water Directive (BWD).

An online survey on challenges, recent innovations, and needs of bathing water management has been launched by Water Europe. To help us scope the workshop, you can give us a hand by completing the survey here.
